The magical one-knob loudness plugin gets an upgrade! Zynaptiq INTENSITY 2 offers multichannel support and two new processing algorithms.
As a developer, Zynaptiq is known for innovative plugin designs that generally live on the more post-production and sound design side of audio. However, these plugins are also incredibly useful for music production, so let’s see what they’ve done with INTENSITY.
Zynaptiq INTENSITY 2
From the word go, INTENSITY has been one of Zynaptiq’s most definitive plugins, a loudness processor with a simple interface that uses a similar algorithm to face recognition to achieve punch and clarity. While this may sound rather abstract at first, the results speak for themselves, and as an early adopter of the plugin, I can safely say that there are no gimmicks here.
In version 2, INTENSITY now has a 64-bit precision processing mode with close to zero latency (3 samples) and greater CPU efficiency than ever. The new CRYSTAL and BRONZE algorithms can bring more edge and definition, with more focussed transients.
More immersive audio users, INSENSITY 2 supports up to 16 channels, so you can add it to your workflow to get some of that instantly gratifying loudness magic. What’s more, there is also mid-side processing available, so you can hone in on your mid or side channels individually.
In addition, the selection of BIAS curve presets has been expanded, with new ways to shape your sounds. Overall, this should be a fun upgrade that brings new creative possibilities to a largely utilitarian plugin.
