Schecter Prince Cloud Guitar in Blue

Schecter made Prince Cloud Guitar in Blue  ·  Source: Prince Official Store

It’s one of pop’s most iconic instruments, an instantly recognisable guitar if ever there was one. Ever wanted a Cloud guitar identical to the ones used by Prince? Now you can order one online directly from the official Prince store. Previously, you had to visit Paisley Park, Prince’s Minneapolis studio compound to get one.

Prince’s Cloud guitar

The guitars are made by Schecter, who used to maintain Prince’s original Cloud guitars and make officially licensed replicas. Now you can order an official Cloud guitar and have it delivered anywhere in the world. A yellow version went for $187,000 and an original Teal model sold for $700,000 at auction!

Hardware

The guitars have a mahogany body with a 24.75″ scale length, a set neck made from three-piece maple and a 14″ radius maple fretboard. The inlays are the Black Prince Love Symbols. It has a Vintage C profile and 22 frets, with a Tusq nut.

The pickups are a set of active models, with an EMG 81 in the bridge and an EMG SA in the neck position. These are wired via a three-way switch via a  Volume and Tone control.

You can order a Cloud guitar in either Blue or White, they both have gold hardware. Each Cloud comes in a hard purple case with a custom purple plush interior.

I have to say, I thought they would be more expensive than this, so a bit of a bargain for Prince fans, in my opinion. I think Prince was such a gifted musician and this release is a lovely way to honour his amazing guitar playing.  Yes, I want one!
