What happened at the Genelec Smart IP Global Launch Event
This week, the renowned Finnish studio monitor manufacturer, Genelec, announced the expansion of its 4400 series installation speakers. In addition to that, launched alongside was the Genelec Smart IP Controller App that allows wireless zonal control of the entire system in a practical App for iOS, iPadOS, and Android devices. Let’s take a closer look at these new offerings, as each has its own set of capabilities and benefits.
Genelec 4410A A/V Installation Loudspeaker
Genelec has now added the 4410A to the 4400 range. Although it’s the same size as an 8010A studio monitor, it’s purpose and connectivity are completely different. This family of speakers is aimed at installation in bars, restaurants, hotels, museums, galleries, and any other space that requires an immersive multichannel audio solution. Speaking of channels, there is no limit to the number of speakers you can run simultaneously – it all depends on the specifications of your network switch. The maximum cable length is 100m which makes installation possible in almost any size venue. Unlike the larger 4420A and 4430A, the new 4410A has no analog inputs and operates only via PoE+ supporting Dante and AES67 digital audio standards.

Genelec Smart IP Controller Mobile App
Smart IP Controller mobile app is an expansion of the Smart IP Manager desktop software, allowing you to connect via WiFi to your Smart IP network. The app allows you to adjust or mute the individual level of each zone you’ve created within Smart IP Manager, or simply mute the entire system. While the app may sound limited, the Smart IP Manager is extremely detailed and offers complete DSP control of each individual channel with EQ and the ability to save presets. The Smart IP Controller app will be available from tomorrow in both the Google Play and Apple App stores.
