TC Electronic has just announced an enhanced version of its DITTO looper pedal, the DITTO+. First released in 2013, DITTO has been expanded to include the ability to save loops, a handy little screen and an hour of loop time.
TC Electronic DITTO+
One of the first things you notice is the screen on the front of this little looper pedal. DITTO + gives you visual indication of what is going on with your looper. At last! This pedal has a 60-minute looper, with unlimited overdubs and undo/redo functions (the original version had 5 minutes loop time). I’d imagine that an hour of recording time is enough for most of us and in all fairness more than I probably will ever require.
Presets and loops
The DITTO+ looper uses 24-bit uncompressed audio, so it should sound great even when you’re stacking up lots of sounds with no loss of signal. A feature like is the ability to easily import or export loops and backing tracks with the included USB cable. This makes it great for live use, as you have 99 memory slots for your loops accessed using the two arrows either side of the main volume control in the centre.
You can also layer long overdubs onto shorter loops using the optional dynamic loop length feature. Nice.
The little hi-res screen gives real-time looping information. That will be very handy on a dark stage, especially if you’re trying to cue up loops with your band. The interface looks simple enough – after all there’s only one knob! Thankfully, the DITTO+ is true-bypass, so it won’t mess with your tone when it is not engaged.
Check out the official video below for a demonstration of this new looper pedal in action. If the price is right, then I can see a lot of players wanting to upgrade to this new version, as that little screen is super handy. The original Ditto * from 2013 is still going strong, but I think this new one has what to takes to be a worthwhile upgrade.
