This was ALM/Busy Circuit’s mystery sampler module from last year. But now it’s all ready to go and seems to be called the Squid Salmple.

Squid Salmple

It’s an 8 channel, 4 output audio sampler with recording inputs, assignable CV inputs and USB storage. The little and the big knob beneath it are used to browse and load samples or kits from the USB drive. It’s all loaded into RAM so the transitions are seamless and glitch free. It samples at 44.1kHz and 16bits and is designed to be instant and intuitive so you can sample directly (up to 11 seconds) into a channel and off you go.

The first 5 channels are designed for percussion and hits and have trigger inputs. Channels 6, 7 and 8 have 1v/oct inputs and tuning knobs for pitch control. There are a few buttons to control quality, envelope, cue points, loop points, reverse and such like.

All in all it’s a remarkably simple and fast sampler with an old school vibe in that you just load samples or sample stuff in and trigger it back – easy!

The Squid Salmple should be out by the end of June.
