In Steinberg Dorico 6, the professional notation software has a range of new features for the SE, Elements, and Pro versions of Dorico.
If you’re unfamiliar with Dorico, it’s Steinberg’s dedicated music notation creator, allowing you to create detailed professional scores for solo musicians, ensembles, and entire orchestras if you need to.

In version 6, Dorico has been enhanced with a Proofreading feature that automatically checks your score as you write and edit. Any issues you might experience are highlighted in the new Proofreading panel, almost like Grammarly for sheet music. Another great feature is that you can now loop sections of your score, as you would in a DAW, and any edits you make are then updated live.
To show chord changes, you can now create multiple rows of chord symbols and customize them to suit your specific score. However, this feature is available in Dorico Pro and has limited functionality in Dorico Elements. In addition, Pro users can create cutaway scores to enhance the overall readability of particularly dense or detailed scores.
For intuitive sightreading assistance, all Dorico versions are now equipped with Fill View, a feature that resizes and optimizes the score’s layout to fit your display. What’s more, Pro users can enjoy Flow headings to provide customizable titles for each movement of a piece.
For greater precision, Dorico Pro and Elements now have rulers and a customizable grid, so you can ensure consistent detail when it comes to the placement of any items in your score. What’s more, Pro users can create condensed scores for players who double. Overall, these improvements make Dorico a more comprehensive scoring platform, especially for Pro users.
