How does Splice CoSo find loops with the help of AI?

DAW heads will be familiar with the AI sample analysis engines already used by plug-ins like XLN’s XO and Argonaut’s Atlas 2. These sort through entire sample libraries in seconds and categorize your sounds for a faster workflow. You can also see AI algorithms at work in Waves Cosmos Sample Finder and the CR8 Creative Sampler.

CoSo on the other hand brings a more accessible and upwardly mobile approach from the sample subscription giant. Splice has your creativity in mind, taking care of pinpointing the exact sounds you need for your ideas. What’s more, you can get to work wherever you are.

Using the Splice CoSo app

With CoSo, you have five categories to start with: Beats, Dance, Hypothesis, Slot Machine and Vintage Cassette. As you choose one, you are presented with a selection of five loops: drums, bass, fx, synth, guitar, and keys, for example. The app makes this selection according to the AI algorithm and you can audition the loops immediately.

If a sound is not to your liking, simply swipe it away and CoSo will instantly present you with an alternative. In addition, if you have a specific tempo or feel in mind, the loops will automatically play back at whichever BPM you select. The same applies to the key of the loops, without needing to make any manual adjustments.

Once you’re ready, you can upload and share your creations directly to your TikTok account. Also, each of the loops you use can be downloaded with the credits from your Splice account. These will revert back to their original key and tempo, but it still makes CoSo an awesome tool for Splice subscribers to new sounds for their productions.

Ableton Live integration will be available soon, along with the option to download the loops individually. Register for your free Splice account and you can download the app free for both iOS and Android.
