Softube Tube-Tech Blue Tone
The Blue Tone uses the multiband compression from the Tube-Tech SMC 2B and EQ characteristics from the PE 1C and ME 1B with eight different processing modes.
Each designed for a specific application, these modes include:
- Vocal Clarity
- Vocal Focus
- Mix Bus
- Mix Bus (Wide)
- Drum Bus
- Bass Instruments
- Keys/Guitar
- Stereo Guitars (Wide)
The core of the Blue Tone’s processing is accessed via the Amount knob that controls the degree of processing taking place. Meanwhile, two EQ bands, and a Mix control for doing parallel processing.
This may be a somewhat simplistic feature set, but when combined with the right processing mode, you can recreate the classic Pultec low-end trick, do multiband widening, and much more.
What’s more, the two separate Mix Bus modes encourage you to use both in different ways. For instance, you might use the first Mix Bus mode on the entire mix, while using the second Mix Bus mode on a parallel channel.
