In the latest version, there is a new experimental Phrase Scripting Engine. While that sounds like a mouthful, this system lets you create musical phrases through programming or live coding using Lua scripting. Also, there is the integration of a new imperative-style sequencer called pattrns 45, which offers support for Tidal Cycles’ mini-notation 24.

Another new addition is the Splitter Effect Device. This functions in a similar way to a Doofer for effects processing and creating macros. However, you can split audio into two sub-signals with three different modes (Parallel, Mid/Side, and Frequency), and each has its own effects chain.

There is also Microtuning Support, so you can use MTS-ESP and Scala files within the native scaling of an instrument. In addition, Sample-based instruments in Renoise can now operate as MTS-ESP clients. On macOS and Windows, you’ll require an MTS master like the free MTS-ESP Mini plugin or Surge XT 2 for Linux users. Meanwhile, you can use Scala tuning files without needing additional software, and these are saved with the instrument or song using them.

There is also improved Ableton Link compatibility, with optional start/stop synchronisation. What’s more, Redux is available in VST3, and there is a MIDI Out function for controlling other instruments. There are performance improvements for multi-core CPUs, as well as a batch of New Factory Content, Tooling & Scripting Enhancements, and more.
