Beautiful, simple and better at generating musical phrases than you are, Voga, developed by Micha Frank, is the perfect Karplus-Strong sidekick for plucky musings.

Voga is a Karplus-Strong reso-pluck synthesizer with a built-in bird and a pair of moons. Using Stochastic principles of movement it can generate new musical phrases and strumming patterns based on just a few settings. The results are musical and lovely.
The two moons act as modulators affecting timbre, filters and the dynamics and speed of the strumming. You can move them yourself or let Voga take over. To start things off you can trigger the root key from a MIDI keyboard and then adapt the scale and other parameters to suit what you’re after.

Voga comes as part of the Lore Patreon membership level that supports Puremagnetik developer and sound artist Micah Frank in his exploration of sound and possibility. The $9 a month Lore Patrons get a new plugin each month, behind-the-scenes access and prototypes to play with. While it can feel like a rather convoluted way to grab an interesting plugin you can sign up for a month, score the plugin and then unsubscribe. Or maybe give it a year because there have already been some wonderful releases that are worth the entry fee.
