As a guitar player, I am more than familiar with effects pedals or stomp boxes, as I like to call them. Us guitarists are the target audience for a whole lot of people making little metal boxes of joy that help us get new tones. The idea behind Pedal Crush is to bring the world of effects pedals to all musicians, not just guitarists like me. Whether you play a harp or you DJ, produce tracks or make weird synth noises in a shed (Robin), there is something for everyone here.

Coffee Table Stomp

I’m a sucker for a nice coffee table book. I own quite a few effects pedal books purchased over the years. I’m really into the history and effect circuits of classic pedals, plus I like to know about new boutique ideas and takes on these classic designs.

For someone like myself, this book could be the perfect gift (hint, hint). If you enjoy pedals, making music and would like to experiment with effects pedals a bit more, I think you might enjoy this new book.

There are interviews with people from a range of companies in the book, including BOSS, Strymon, Zvex Effects, Chase Bliss Audio, Electro-Harmonix, Empress Effects, Keeley Electronics, Death By Audio, EarthQuaker Devices, TC Electronic and Hologram Electronics. So plenty of good reading material in one book I reckon and there are 360 pages of it!

PUSH TURN MOVE and PATCH & TWEAK

The author of Pedal Crush is Kim Bjørn and he is also the man behind the books PUSH TURN MOVE and PATCH & TWEAK which were both about synths. This guy obviously has a passion for writing about music gear! Head on over to the Kickstarter page via the link below for more details and to make a pledge, That will save you a few quid on the final release price if you get in early. The book is slated for release in October.

RRP – Kickstarter special pricing from USD49/EUR 42

Yay! Thanks for the shout out! Sheds are the best place for weird noises.

Possibly the best place to create weird noises in my opinion. We rehearse in a big shed and my guitar can make some ungodly tones and weirdness whilst in there. And at ear-bleeding volume, always a bonus!
