Palmer MONICON: Affordable Studio Monitor Controllers
The next generation of MONICON desktop monitor controllers.
The Palmer MONICON range of studio monitor controllers has expanded with a new generation of models for home recording studio users.
Palmer is known for creating reliable audio tools for a range of studio and live applications at reasonable prices. Now, with the MONICON series, they offer more options for users with different requirements.
Palmer MONICON
The new MONICON range of monitor controllers starts with the S G2, a simple and compact desktop design with unbalanced stereo RCA connectivity and a mono function for testing the mono compatibility of your mixes. Next up, we have the M G2, which is slightly larger. Here, all the functionality is carried up the range, except that there is balanced XLR I/O instead of RCA.
In addition, the M G2 model provides quick access to Dim and Mute functions, which are useful for reducing the volume levels without losing the magical sweet spot setting that you’ve dialled in with the main volume knob. Meanwhile, the larger L G2, can function as either an active or passive monitor controller and has additional features in a few areas.
For starters, the L G2 has two stereo and one mono output channels, so you can run two sets of studio monitors and a subwoofer or mono cube monitor. There is also a stereo headphone output with its own volume control, and there are XLR combo inputs, as well as RCA, stereo minijack, and Bluetooth connectivity.
Overall, the new MONICON models provide a decent amount of value for the price. The L G2 model, in particular, will be interesting to most home studio users and content creators, due to its wide range of connectivity options.
