Old Blood Noise Endeavors Beam Splitter
Working with each of the 3 channels starts with separate controls for gain, volume, and tone. Here, you can differentiate the voices as you begin to build each layer of your sound by adding brightness to the distortion.
The 3 layers are colour-coded as follows:
- Purple – hard-clipping distortion
- Green – soft-clipping overdrive
- Blue – transistor overdrive
The first 2 voices also have delay and decay time controls which allows you to create modulation effects like chorus and flanging while you shape the tails of each part of the sound.

Where it gets interesting, is the Deviate control can be used to vary the delay times at random. So you can give the different layers a more organic feel as they move independently, or you can generate some truly wonky effects.
What’s more, the Deviate amount can be externally controlled with an expression pedal. This allows you to play it far more deliberately, as you would with a Wah pedal.
Overall, the Beam Splitter looks extremely versatile, as you can get a summed parallel mono signal from one output or three separate splits. The idea of layering sounds will appeal not only to guitarists but to synth heads, instrumentalists, and vocalists too.
