Need to mix on headphones with results that translate? The OLLO Audio S4R, S4X, and S5X 2023 Calibrated Headphones are now available.
The three models in OLLO Audio’s recently introduced range of Calibrated Headphones cover various applications, so let’s take a closer look at each to see where they might be useful.
All models are circumaural designs and have been put together with a stainless steel headband, American walnut earcups, 50 mm drivers, leather and velour earpads, as well as a detachable cable.
In addition, OLLO Audio has developed the USC calibration plug-in for PC and Mac using AU and VST3 formats. Moreover, the plug-in can be expanded with optional Waves NX room simulations.
OLLO Audio S4R
The S4R is OLLO Audio’s basic closed-back design aimed at recording, podcasting, or any application that may require isolated or discrete monitoring in an indoor or outdoor environment.
With a 32-Ohm impedance rating, the S4R can be powered optimally by virtually any professional or consumer device, and with a weight of 382g it’s perfect for location sound.
S4X
The S4X is the studio model, an open-back design optimized for mixing and mastering applications. Also, the impedance is 32 Ohms, so you won’t need a dedicated headphones preamp.
As with all the OLLO Audio headphones, it comes with a detachable two-sided cable with a 0.25-inch jack adapter and a useful carry bag.
S5X
For spatial audio mixing and mastering applications, you’ll need the S5X. This model is rated for binaural music and Dolby Atmos formats, so this is ideal if you’re looking for a professional solution for immersive audio.
The S5X also uses an open-back design which offers neutral frequency reproduction. Meanwhile, the 50-Ohm impedance rating means it will be powered nicely across most stereo and spatial audio playback devices.
