Native Instruments Komplete 14

A couple of weeks ago, we learned about the development of Native Instruments Kontakt 7 and speculated that it was a sign of the impending release of Komplete 14. And now it’s official. NI has just announced that Komplete 14 will be released on September 27, 2022. That said, we’ll have to wait a bit longer for Kontakt 7, which will be added in October.

Like every new release of Komplete, the new version of the production bundle features several important new additions, starting with Kontakt 7. Needless to say, the latest version of the company’s flagship sampler is accompanied by a whole bunch of new sampled content – all in all, 11 new libraries and 30 new expansions are included.

Playbox, which was released individually earlier this year, is a library designed to spark your creativity with randomization and chord generation. Choir:Omnia delivers the sounds of a 40-piece vocal ensemble, while Lores includes organic instruments and hand-played articulations. Piano Colors explores the limits of a piano’s sonic expressiveness by applying modulation. Other new additions to Komplete 14 include Ashlight, Action Strings 2, Sequis, several new installments in the Session Guitarist and Session Bassist series, and of course many new expansions. All in all, Komplete 14 Ultimate now includes more than 137.000 sounds.

Now with plugins by iZotope and Plugin Alliance

Other additions to the bundle reflect the joint-venture that Native Instruments formed with iZotope and Plugin Alliance under the name Soundwide earlier this year. Komplete 14 now includes iZotope Ozone 10 Standard, which was also announced today and will be released next week. And the best is yet to come: Many plugins from the extensive catalogs of Plugin Alliance and Brainworx are now also included, such as bx_Oberhausen, Knifonium, bx_Crispytuner, LO-FI-AF, bx_Console Focusrite SC, bx_Console N, and more!

I just bought the 13 bundle last year. I love Kontakt, and I love the overall interface update they have implemented, but after going through as many of the libraries as time has permitted, I’ve found that I still keep to the handful that I’ve been using consistently and basically ignore all of the rest.
There are some libraries that sound interesting with 14, but I’m hesitant to spend more of my dwindling cash supply on libraries that tend to start behaving and sounding like so many others in a Kontakt bundle.

13UC purchased for 299 and now they want 399 for an incremental update, with no compelling improvements.

that’s Native Instruments business model in a nutshell – if 299 was the price for a fresh (not updated) version of 13 Ult. Coll. ed. – then that was a real bargain – considering how much 13UC comprises – any update will be incremental – but you’ll still get considerably more for the update sum compared to buying the individual products – the good thing is that you can wait for v. 15 or 16 or .. the update price is the same

I bought Komplete 13CE just last year. I have gone through maybe a dozen libraries so far, why buy Komplete 14 now?
