PRS has just announced three new S2 models due to debut in 2020! The S2 McCarty 594, S2 McCarty 594 Singlecut and S2 McCarty 594 Thinline are all based on the company’s super-popular Core model, but are placed in the S2 series at a lower price point.
PRS S2 McCarty 594 launching at NAMM 2020
The idea behind the S2 series was to bring PRS customers an American-built guitar but at a lower price point compared to the company’s premium Core models. So to see the McCarty 594 models enter the S2 lineup is great news for players tempted by these models but for whom the Core versions may be too pricey.
Each of the new models comes with a 22-fret mahogany neck with a bound rosewood fretboard. You also get a PRS zinc two-piece bridge and vintage-style tuners.
Two versions have a maple top, namely the double and single cut versions; both have the Pattern Vintage neck shape. The Thinline comes with the thinner, one-piece, all-mahogany body and a Pattern Thin neck shape instead. All models in the new range are sold with 58/15 “S” humbucking pickups and dual volume and push/pull tone controls.
Lots of finish options
We hear that these guitars will be available in a variety of finishes, including Frost Green Metallic, Vintage Cherry, Antique White, Whale Blue, McCarty Sunburst, Frost Blue Metallic and Burnt Amber Red.
I think that these new models will be very popular this year if the price is right. These could sell like hot cakes! You can check the full specifications from the link below, or watch the official demo videos to hear them in action.
