Custom Presets Vol.2 for KORG multi/poly by Marc Barnes Sounds
I think it’s safe to say that the sign of a great synth is the sheer number of great sounds and presets that are made for it. So the abundance of new patches for the KORG multi/poly is a pretty clear indication of what an incredible synth it is.
After a bit of a lull in output, Scotland’s Marc Barnes has returned with a second volume of fantastic multi/poly programs and performances for this hugely versatile synth. In this bank, you will find 100 new custom programs that are fantastic on their own.
However, Marc has used these to deliver 25 stunning performance patches that really show off the abilities of the multi/poly, be it the keyboard, desktop or plugin version. Marc has made full use of the four macro functions on each performance, as well as the intuitive KAOSS Pad.

J3PO Prophet Rev.2 Patches Vol.2 by Julian Pollack
It’s easy to overlook the Prophet Rev.2, what with the Rev.4 Prophet 5/10 probably getting more of the limelight these days. But Dave Smith’s reimagining of the earlier Prophet 08 has become a cornerstone of many artists studios.
One such artist is Julian Pollack, aka J3PO, who has found himself inseparable from his Rev.2. So much so that this is his second bank of sounds for it, many of which have been featured on recent releases of his.
This collection contains 50 new patches and expands and enhances upon the first bank he made some time ago. It’s always great to have sound banks created by artists who use them in their own productions because you know these are sounds designed to be used in anger.

Arturia’s MiniFreak is one of the most versatile and mind-blowingly brilliant synths of the last few years. Available in both hardware and software forms, this compact hybrid synth punches way above its weight and, in my very humble opinion, and those of many others too, deserves a full-size version at some point.

Bringing up the rear this week is a bank of patches for Arturia’s Pigments that derives its inspiration from the classic Roland JX-8P. But this is no sample pack. Oh no, this is 100% Pigments and no external samples are required.
JX Logia features 24 presets inspired by that late Roland analogue beast and covers all the basic tones you’d expect. You’ve got attempts at recreating acoustic instruments, as well as your classic synth sounds, including the legendary ‘Soundtrack’ patch.
There’s a distinct ‘synthwave’ overtone to a lot of these sounds, but these patches can be used in many more styles, so don’t limit your imagination when using them.
