New Meta MBM-2H models announced. Fans of Muse frontman Matt Bellamy’s iconic guitars have even more reasons to celebrate this week, as Manson Guitar Works and Cort announce significant expansions to the Meta Series MBM-2H range.

This week, we have already seen the new custom Matt Bellamy Oryx 8-string model, and Muse fans also have a new single, Unravelling, officially out today.
Which makes this launch of the new updated Meta MBM-2H the third big announcement in one week from Bellamy.
Meta MBM-2H
The popular signature model is now available with fresh new colours, new hardware options, and, for the first time, dedicated left-handed versions. They are designed by Manson Guitar Works and built by Cort, so you have a unique Matt Bellamy-inspired design with Cort’s great build quality.
Leading the charge is the highly anticipated return of the MBC-1 Red Sparkle finish. This glittering, high-gloss lacquer is a direct nod to Bellamy’s famous “Santa” guitars, widely recognised from his live performances and studio work.
The Red Sparkle finish is available in two distinct configurations: a twin-humbucker version equipped with Manson-designed pickups for a powerful and versatile sound, and a Sustainiac-equipped variant for those seeking the innovative infinite sustain capabilities.
Sustainiac
The Sustainiac model replaces the neck humbucker with the same advanced pickup system found in Bellamy’s personal instruments. This allows players to switch between a detailed active neck pickup and three alternative Sustainiac modes, each offering endless sustain for creative exploration.
I own two guitars with sustainer pickups, and it is a lot of fun to use, especially in the studio or live. You can do some fantastic ethereal tones with a bit of reverb and delay, or full-on feedback like lead lines without the earsplitting volume normally required to induce feedback.
Satin Olive Green
Joining the Red Sparkle is a brand-new Satin Olive Green finish. This sleek new colorway is paired with black hardware, a first for the Meta Series, providing a more aggressive and stealthy aesthetic.
Like the Red Sparkle, the Satin Olive Green is available in both humbucker and Sustainiac-equipped versions.
Premium Features
The updated Meta Series MBM-2H models continue to deliver on the premium features that have made the series so popular. Players can expect a sleek, contoured basswood body paired with a Canadian maple soft V-profile neck with a compound radius Indian laurel fretboard, a kill-button for unique stutter effects, and Manson’s signature design and playability.
They all come with a fully adjustable bridge and tailpiece, with a set of staggered locking tuners.
I reviewed one of the Cort/Manson MBM-1 Meta models, and the build quality of the guitars is excellent, so I’m expecting the same from these new releases.
Price & Availability
The MBM-2H is priced at £569, while the MBM-2H-Sustainiac will retail for £899. Both versions are available now through Cort and Manson dealers worldwide.
They join the existing stealth-looking Dry Satin Black models available in right-handed versions with Sustainiac and left-handed versions at Thomann. We will update you as soon as these new colours are available at Thomann.
