If you are looking to squeeze out more drive, dynamics and tone out of your tracks, Inertia Sound Systems’ Instinct plug-in may be onto something. Instinct is a creative processor that stretches itself between saturation and dynamics processing in interesting ways. Its saturation engine is based on transistor and tube models which can be adjusted, wired in series, and also modulated. Filtering is accomplished via analog-modeled Drive and Tone filters with internal saturation and self-oscillation.

A built-in transient shaper called SCULPT lets you modulate circuit parameters for experimental dynamics and distortion shaping, with a set of controls over time response and character. Distortion models and parameters can morph between each other for an additional approach to tweaking, and signal flow can be modified by activating and disabling modules.

All in all, Instinct is the kind of plug-in best-suited to twisting the controls and hearing what they do. Of course, there are built-in presets to get you started and showcase what the plug-in is capable of – be it warming up sounds or all-out sonic mayhem. Instinct is an interesting plug-in for sure and it’s also being sold at half price during the introductory period.

Nice discovery. I toyed with it a bit. It sounds real good.
