These Chris Cornell ES-335 Tribute guitars will only be available via pre-sale through an authorised Gibson dealer by 3 September. So you cannot hang around too long if you want one of these instruments. And it’ll come as no surprise that the price tag on these guitars is, well, exclusive.

In my eyes, indisposed

The 335 Tribute is a semi-hollow electric guitar that uses a three-ply maple/poplar/maple top, back and sides. It has spruce bracing, a maple centre block and a quarter-sawn, rounded-C profile mahogany neck.

The specs here are similar to the original run from 2013, albeit with Chris’s signature inlaid using Mother-of-Pearl on the headstock.

In disguises no one knows

This model is fitted with a set of aged Lollartron humbuckers in both the neck and bridge positions. These are wired via two volume and tone controls and a three-way toggle switch.  Those controls have “no number” top-hat control knobs, as requested by Mr Cornell on the original run of this signature guitar.

Hides the face, lies the snake

The Cornell Tribute guitar comes with a B-7 Bigsby and a set of kidney bean-style Grover Rotomatic tuners. All 250 guitars will be available exclusively in the Olive Drab Green satin nitro finish; the original 2013 model was also available in a flat black finish.

The sun in my disgrace

I’ve played the original 2013 version, as my friend owns one. It is a beautiful guitar and I am sure that these Tribute models will be, too. Those Lollartrons sound amazing and work so well in the semi-hollow body configuration of this guitar.

It’s such a shame he is no longer with us. He was a beautiful individual, who unfortunately left the world far too soon. But what a legacy – and an amazing voice!

RRP – USD 3999
