Free Plugins of the Week
Full Bucket Music Fury-68: Free KORG Poly-61 Emulation for your DAW
Whenever Björn Arlt aka Full Bucket Music releases a new plugin, you can be sure it’s excellent. His latest release is Fury-68, a faithful emulation of the KORG Poly-61 from 1982. The successor to the famous Polysix often doesn’t get the love it deserves, as it suffers from a bad case of the 1980s knobless user interface syndrom. However, the six-voice analog synthesis architecture under the hood is almost identical to that of the Polysix, so the Poly-61 is capable of producing some really nice sounds.
According to Full Bucket Music, Fury-68 is a close simulation of the original hardware. But the developer didn’t stop there. Fury-68 not only offers extended polyphony, but also increased parameter resolution, overcoming one of the biggest weaknesses of the original hardware. The software synth also offers a second envelope, as well as built-in chorus, phaser, and ensemble effects. You can choose between the original Poly-61 look and an alternate interface reminiscent of the Polysix. Great stuff!
Fury-68 is available for macOS and Windows in VST, VST3, AU, AAX, and CLAP formats.
Florian Mrugalla Hammer & Meißel: Polyphonic Modal Filter Plugin
Hammer & Meißel by Florian Mrugalla is a fascinating modal filter plugin. It’s based on the idea of arranging multiple bandpass and comb filters in a harmonic series, allowing you to turn noise into beautiful and unique sounds. As the developer puts it: “What if there were drums that are also kinda bells and they are playing your chords, while still being punchy? That is one of the kinds of situations H&M throws you into!”

Every voice offers an ADSR envelope generator, a modal filter and a formant filter in parallel, a comb filter, and a lowpass filter. You can then play the resulting sounds polyphonically via MIDI. Hammer & Meißel even lets you import samples via drag & drop to create your own modal material.
Hammer & Meißel is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux as a VST3 plugin.
Orpheus Effects RoomLite: Free Room Reverb

Orpheus Effects has lifted the room algorithm from the PhiVerb plugin (currently on sale for $30) and made it available for free! RoomLite is a free room reverb that specializes in realistic emulations of small to medium-sized spaces. At shorter settings, it adds a subtle sense of dimension to any track. Longer settings border on hall reverb territory.
In addition to the essential PreDelay, Decay, and Mix knobs, RoomLite offers versatile sound shaping controls. There’s a Tone section with high and low cut filters and a tilt EQ, a Shape section with Size and Diffusion controls, and a Damping section with adjustable frequency and intensity.
RoomLite is available for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU, and AAX formats. The download includes a 14-day free trial of PhiVerb.
