With Volcano 3, developer Fabfilter presents the second major update to its revered Volcano 3 filter plug-in. Just like the recently released Timeless 3, Volcano 3 gets an overhauled user interface alongside a modernized modulation section with an intuitive drag-and-drop system. Additionally, you can now use four new analog-modeled filters with even more flexible routing. Things are looking good and sounding very interesting, indeed!
Fabfilter Volcano 3
Volcano 3 is a new, refined version of a seriously good filter plug-in. Version 2 already showed its versatility through a variety of filter types and its flexible modulation matrix, that alongside the typically polished Fabfilter user experience. It goes without saying that the sound and the results are also quite convincing.
Now, Volcano 3 is available with a revised graphical user interface reminiscent of the Fabfilter Timeless 3 update. Furthermore, Fabfilter has expanded the choice of vintage equalizer filters (including bell, low / high shelf, notch, all-pass and 6 dB / octave options). They are now equipped with a drive and saturation control. You can also adjust the volume and pan for each filter, or choose between stereo and mid/side processing. The new graphical representation of the audio signal in the modulation section is also very nice and convenient.
Overall, Volcano 3 is a solid all-around update that makes a lot of sense.
