Drum Workshop has launched an additional limited production run of the revered 5 x 14-inch DW MFG True-Cast Bell Bronze Snare, assembled in DW’s famous California Custom Shop and priced at a whopping $4000.
In late 2019, Drum Workshop issued an initial limited run of True-Cast drums which were sold out within minutes. These snare drums are highly regarded by recording studios and preferred by drummers worldwide.
DW MFG True-Cast Bronze Snare
DW’s sand-cast pure bronze shells produce a distinctive sound with defined dynamics. Built by DW artist Dave Elitch with DW’s product development team, MFG True-Cast snares are equipped with solid brass machined components, including a Mini MAG throw-off butt plate, mini-Turret lugs, and True-Pitch tension rods.
The design is comprised of a sand-cast bell bronze drum shell, machined with a precision snare bed and 45-degree bearing edges. In addition, to recreate the tonality of integrated reinforcement hoops it uses a concave interior.
The True-Cast Snare’s sonic character is bolstered with machined counter hoops, that also give it a stately overall look. To finish the design, DW used single-ply Remo Ambassador snare heads and 20-strand True-Tone snare wires.

When asked about the project, Designer Dave Elitch said, “I’m a drummer and a drum collector. I’m passionate about the instrument and wanted to partner with DW to make the quintessential sand-cast bronze snare – made the right way. Every aspect of this drum was thought out and executed with the utmost care and attention to detail. The result is a modern-day legend, both sonically and visually.”
