Rob Chapman is known for playing heavy guitar licks and demoing gear for various companies. He’s also known for drinking far too much coffee on his YouTube channel. This caffinated riff monster also has his own line of guitars, and has just announced some interesting new Pro and Standard models.
The first models from Chapman Guitars date back to 2009 and were designed by experienced guitarists. They also used input from the public via Rob’s forum and YouTube channel, incorporating requested features. Now Rob Chapman and his team of Chapman Guitars has revised the entire range.
The photo above shows the three new models, the ML1 Pro Traditional, Ghost Fret Standard and ML2 Pro Modern. All three are designed to be comfortably played up to the highest frets and are equipped with ergonomic shapings. The ML1 Pro has specially adapted Venus Witch single-coil pickups, while the other two models have split humbuckers.
The three instruments are all updated versions of designs from the company’s back catalogue. The Pro versions feature nicer-looking tonewoods and branded hardware as upgrades. These include Chapman Primordial Humbuckers based around an Alnico 5 magnet design, Hipshot Grip-Lock Open tuners, stainless steel jumbo frets and glow in the dark side dots!
I have owned a Chapman CAP 10 in the past and it was a decent guitar for the price, and so these new versions could be worth a punt.
Rob is a really nice bloke and he loves his guitars, and that passion is something you see filter through into the company that bears his name. I would suggest that if you are looking for a modern guitar then Chapman is one of those brands you should check out, as they make some good quality instruments.
RRP – ML1 Pro Traditional – GBP 869, Ghost Fret Standard GBP 449 and ML2 Pro Modern GBP 1,049
