Boss knows a thing or two about looper pedals. The RC-1, RC-202 or RC-505  are probably among its best known models. So what could Boss possible want to add to its already extensive range? A rhythm section.

In contrast to the other RC pedals, the new RC-10R is not just a purely a looper pedal. It has a built-in rhythm section with 280 presets and 16 kits. This should cover pretty much all “normal” genres and make this pedal attractive for many applications like practise, busking or writing new songs.

Impressively, the RC-10R lets you record up to 6 hours of your noodling, in stereo on two tracks. A Micro B USB port lets you hook this pedal up to your computer. In addition, MIDI In/Out is also available via mini jack connection.

At the top there are dual mono inputs and outputs and a connector for an external footswitch or expression pedal. PC/Mac software has also been made available for importing your own WAV loops and user rhythms. On board storage caters for 99 phrase memories and up to 50 user rhythms as well. The internal processing is at 32-bit floating point and the specs list 32-bit AD/DA.

Check out the official Boss demo video below to see the new RC-10R  in action. It looks well thought out to me and looks like it could appeal to many musicians, not just guitarists!

RRP – GBP 263
