Austrian Audio has announced the Hi-X15 and Hi-X25BT headphones. The new models feature the same high excursion drivers as the company’s other headphones, but at a lower price. The Hi-X15 is wired, while the Hi-X25BT can operate wirelessly via Bluetooth.

Austrian Audio is continuing the roll-out of its line of headphones. After following up on the Hi-X50 and Hi-X55 with the Hi-X65 reference headphones earlier this year, the company has now turned its eyes on the other end of the spectrum with the much less expensive Hi-X15 and Hi-X25BT. That said, the new headphones use the same proprietary 44 mm Hi-X high excursion drivers as the more costly models. Austrian Audio claims that these drivers offer an extremely fast response and linear, distortion-free reproduction of even the lowest frequencies. With these characteristics, the new Hi-X15 and Hi-X25BT headphones are designed for use in the studio, on stage, in the rehearsal room or for leisurely listening.

The wired Austrian Audio Hi-X15 headphones feature a closed-back design with replaceable memory foam ear pads. The folding mechanism with metal hinges makes the headphones easy to store and carry, while keeping the weight at a low 255 grams. Austrian Audio says that the headphones’ low impedance (25 Ohms) ensures a good sound when connected to low-power outputs, such as mobile devices. They offer a frequency range of 12 Hz to 24 kHz.

The second new model, the Hi-X25BT, pairs these features with wireless Bluetooth connectivity. The headphones can be connected using three different methods. For use in the studio, you can feed them analog audio via a detachable USB-C-to-3.5 mm cable. They also take digital audio via USB-C, with the USB port also serving to charge the battery. Charging via USB-C also works while listening wirelessly over Bluetooth. With an integrated microphone for phone calls and a touch-sensitive control pad, these headphones also make for a very nice wireless listening solution for your phone on the go.
