Forget for a second that you might associate Audio-Technica with budget headphones and other reasonably priced audio solutions. The popular manufacturer has spared no expense with the design of the mystical-looking ATH-AWKG headphones.

These headphones are built by hand using the best-quality components that contribute to the experience of “true fireworks of the elements” when you listen to music with them, as Audio-Technica puts it.
The Kurogaki wood used in the earcups is not only for decorative purposes. Instead, it pays homage to the art form of carving ornament using the rare black persimmon wood.
In addition, as the wood is also very dense, it possesses great acoustic properties. The manufacturing process using traditional Kurogaki wood requires years of experience, making each pair of ATH-AWKG headphones a unique and ornate item.
Once you put them on, the closed-back dynamic design with 53 mm drivers allows you to be carried off on your musical journey. The drivers use German Permendur magnetic circuitry, with a titanium flange and a high-quality 6N OFC voice coil.
With this meticulous Japanese craftmanship, the design allows the driver diaphragm to respond with the utmost accuracy, for the most faithful signal transmission possible.
Furthermore, Audio-Technica has developed a Double Air Damping System (DADS) exclusively for the ATH-AWKG. This splits the listening chamber into two acoustic subdivisions to improve the overall bass response.
The ATH-AWKH uses a specially designed detachable A2DC (Audio Designed Detachable Coaxial) cable and has an impedance rating of 48 ohms which means it will perform well on both professional and consumer-grade systems.
Also, with a specified frequency range of 5 Hz – 45 kHz, the ATH-AWKH promises to be more than just a listening tool. Overall, it’s a work of art, and it provides a healthy, albeit expensive, form of escape into the realm of your favourite music artists.
