Audient has announced the iD24 USB-C audio interface. The little brother to the iD44 MKII boasts two mic preamps, four outputs, ADAT expandability, and a built-in monitor controller in a compact desktop interface.

The new Audient iD24 audio interface will likely replace the aging iD22. As such, it offers many of the same features as its predecessor, although the new version connects via USB-C. You get two analog inputs with Audient Console microphone preamps, which are accessible via XLR-1/4 combo jacks on the back. Both inputs offer balanced insert and return jacks for looping in external gear such as equalizers or compressors. The return jacks also provide the cleanest access to the A/D converters, bypassing the preamp. Input 1 can also serve as a Hi-Z instrument input, for which there is an additional 1/4” jack on the front side.

Like the predecessor, the Audient iD24 gives you two pairs of analog line outputs, which is extremely useful for connecting a second pair of monitors or creating a separate monitor mix. The headphone output on the front side offers both 1/4” and 1/8” connectors and a separate volume control.

Furthermore, the interface boasts a built-in monitor controller with a large volume knob and essential features like Dim and Cut. In addition to this, there are three function buttons that can be assigned to tasks like Speaker Select, Talkback, or Mono Sum.

ADAT connectivity

As a member of Audient’s higher-end iD series, the iD24 offers a couple of features typically only found on professional interfaces. For example, there’s an ADAT optical interface that lets you connect an external AD/DA converter for up to 8 additional inputs and outputs. Furthermore, the iD24 features a word clock output for digital synchronization. However, there is no MIDI connectivity.

As a compact desktop interface that pairs ease of use with a useful feature set and some professional touches, the new Audient iD24 seems like a nice step up from typical beginners’ interfaces.

Sorry, but it looks like a downgrade from the ID22

In what conceivable way is this a downgrade to the id14? It has more features, more outputs and more expandability. This is a successor to the id22, not a competitor to the id14.

I agree, it doesn’t offer a huge amount more than the iD14 mkII, and not much of an improvement over the iD22 except form factor and bus power. For the price point, it’s not incentivising me much to replace my 22, which I guess at least attests to Audient’s excellent build quality.

They need an interface called “iD10T” and see if anyone notices.
