Reverend launch Sensei HB Limited Edition
A slick-looking limited edition run of the Sensei HB with some natty colour choices

Reverend Guitars have just announced their limited edition Sensei HB model for 2016, a striking model featuring a flame maple cap over a korina body and incorporating a Bigsby Tremolo system.
Limited Edition
Every autumn Reverend launch a new limited edition model and the Sensei HB is their latest addition. It’s quite a looker and has a slightly offset waist, which gives it an appealingly slinky look.
The top is a flame maple cap and comes in natural, blue, purple, trans-black or green clear finishes, all of which are really good, striking choices, avoiding the boring traditional sunbursts. For me, the colours on offer really suit this funky little guitar. Korina is the main body timber, which is generally considered to give a great tone (Gibson used it on a lot of classic ’50s guitars). It’s slightly brighter than standard mahogany, so I was pleased to see Reverend using it on the Sensei HB.
Hardware
The Sensei HB is loaded with a Bigsby B-50 trem system and it seems to fit in really well with the overall design. The whole impression is sort of ‘future-retro’, which suits the simple dual humbucker layout and the small pickguard. The guitar looks understated and not too bling, though it still stands out and retains some classic lines.
The two humbuckers are Reverend’s own Special H pickups and are controlled by a Tone, Volume and the Reverend Bass Cut circuit, which allows you to dial in more, single-coil-like tones.
Reverend Sensei HB Limited Edition 2016 Green
The guitar has a bound headstock loaded with locking tuners, and the nut is a frictionless graphite one. This should all help maintain the tuning of that Bigsby B-50 trem system, which can suffer from tuning issues. The neck itself has a dual action truss rod and so should be easy to adjust. It has 22 medium jumbo frets on a 12″ radius rosewood fretboard, whilst the actual neck is a three-piece korina construction, which should make it good and strong.
