Yes, 27 frets!
The new聽Pro Series Limited Edition Wildcard Soloist Arch Top Extreme SL27 EX from Jackson, to give it its full official production name, is a 27 fret monster of a shredder. One doesn’t often need more than 24 frets. But if you are going to drop it, you may as well go all the way to 27.
SL27 EX
The guitar has a nice聽alder Soloist-style body with an arched top and superb upper fret access, which, let’s face it, it’s going to need with 27 frets. It has a through-body three-piece maple neck with graphite reinforcement rods and a satin聽finished back, making it perfect for fast playing styles.
The bound ebony fingerboard has a聽12″-16″ compound radius,聽27 jumbo frets, and聽a lone pearloid sharkfin inlay at the 12th fret. The glow-in-the-dark聽Luminlay聽side dots therefore are super useful, considering there’s only one fret marker and one could easily get lost this on neck on a dark stage.
Dimarzio loaded
The guitar comes as standard with a聽DiMarzio Super Distortion DP100FW+BK聽in the bridge position and a DiMarzio Air Norton STM DP180W聽in the neck. Both pickups are wired via a three-way toggle switch, and single volume and tone controls. I think the pickups’ white bobbins accents quite nicely with the guitar’s Blue Sparkle finish.
It comes with a聽Floyd Rose Original locking trem system. Obviously. What else would you have on a 27-fret guitar?
