Is the new PRS SE Tonare Parlor the perfect couch guitar?

Remember those small-bodied PRS acoustic models we spotted the other day? Well, the company has officially announced them today. The new SE Tonare Parlor acoustics are PRS’s latest SE range acoustic instruments and come in a few different colours, with or without the onboard preamp.
PRS SE Tonare Parlor
Small-bodied parlour sized instruments are quite sweet sounding instruments and so you may want to check out these new PRS SE Tonare Parlor P20 and P20E acoustics. They were spotted online before their official release, which might easily have been part of the marketing campaign, but we’ll bite and see what’s on offer. The guitars have a 24.72″ scale length and 20 frets, which should make them ideal for several different styles of playing.
Both models feature a PRS designed PRS Hybrid “X”/Classical Bracing and have similar Herringbone, Crème rosette and binding. They also use a set of vintage-style tuners with butterbean buttons, which I think suits acoustics really well.

SE P20 & P20E
Apart from the fact that they didn’t spell parlour correctly, both these models look really nice! They are an all-mahogany construction, with an ebony fretboard and bridge, plus a bone nut and saddle. The P20E comes with an onboard Fishman GT1 pickup system, but if you don’t need to plug in, you can opt for the P20. The preamp and pickup adds about £100 more to the price, which seems reasonable enough.

The guitars are available in Satin Black, Satin Charcoal or Satin Mahogany finishes. You can hear these new models in action in the official PRS demo videos below. I must say, I’m impressed by the tone. They sound pretty sweet and very full for such a small sized acoustic. And at these price points, they should sell well.

Yup, that’s an acoustic guitar mate. The whole of my 90s China-special from Argos vibrated too.
I was looking to upgrade my Martin LX1 to a Taylor GS Mini soon, but I think Ill give this a try-out too. Looks good – especially in black.
