MIDI guitars have come a long way since the ’80s, and the new Jamstik Chameleon by Strandberg offers a modern solution for today’s guitarists.
The company has one of the best reputations for modern headless guitar designs, so this launch into MIDI-equipped models for 2026 will be welcomed by guitarists who need that extra layer of control and expression.
Full Polyphonic
I lived through the early years of MIDI guitars (I actually had a job demonstrating them at one point), and tracking was hit-or-miss at best, plus polyphony was essentially a no-go for many years, making them good for monophonic synth lines or faux saxophone parts (with terrible expression options).
In 2026, Standberg will launch with full polyphonic MIDI functionality via USB-C, Bluetooth, and TRS-MIDI. This should negate any issues or tracking frustrations, so musicians can express themselves without limits.
Guitars Specifications
The guitars feature a Meranti body with a Chameleon Burst finish; they should be lightweight, making them perfect for many players. A roasted maple 25.5″ scalelength neck with a 20″ radius rosewood fretboard comes fitted with 24 DHP 28HFS stainless steel frets.
They have an Arc 6-string straight hardtail bridge and a matching string lock. It’s all that we have come to expect from Strandberg: high-end, well-engineered, and designed for the modern guitarist.
The HH pickup layout of these guitars features active electronics, Strandberg’s Hum Hot bridge and Hum Vintage neck pickups, and the Zivix Jamstik MIDI module and hexaphonic pickup. Controls consist of a Master Volume, Master Tone, and a 5-way pickup selector switch.
Verdict & Pre-Order Details
They are available to pre-order at £1799 for this model, which I think is very reasonable given all the extra MIDI control on offer. I am also a sucker for a flip-flopcolour changing finish on modern guitars, so I love the Chameleon Burst!

Finally!
I’m very happy for Jamstik—their guitars have been on my wishlist for ages. I’m not really a fan of headless guitars at all, but I might be willing to compromise for this one. We’ll see.
