Spirals has two delay lines with modulation and an adjustable time offset, so you can run them in parallel, ping-pong, or anything in between. Turn up the diffusion control to create reverb-like textures, and add some pitch-shifted shimmer for that top-end sparkle. Spirals also includes a resonant low-pass filter with an intuitive X/Y pad for control, which makes it easy to create interesting filter sweeps.

The free version is somewhat limited in that it doesn’t offer BPM sync and only supports up to 2x oversampling. That said, it still offers plenty of opportunities to get creative. The full version of Spirals costs $30.

Spirals runs on macOS and Windows in VST3 and AU formats.

Signal Perspective Pyrite: Free Preamp Emulation, EQ, and Compressor

Pyrite
Pyrite · Source: Signal Perspective

According to Signal Perspective, Pyrite began as a disappointing attempt to emulate a Golden Age Pre-73 DLX Mk II preamp. The results were sonically underwhelming due to the linear nature of the original unit, so the developer decided to add some stuff to make it more useful. In addition to the preamp emulation (with saturation), Pyrite includes an EQ section with HPF, Lift, and Air controls, and a compressor. The developer says that it works best on drums and vocals, but can also deliver good results on other types of tracks.

Pyrite is available for macOS and Windows in VST3 and AU formats.
