Native Instruments Traktor Play: 2-Deck Version Compatible With AlphaTheta Controllers!
Traktor Play keeps the core of Native Instruments’ popular DJ software – including stem separation – and makes it compatible with AlphaTheta and Reloop controllers.
Native Instruments Traktor Play
Native Instruments is taking play seriously, it seems. The company recently gave us the free(!) Massive X Player and now NI is going back to the playground with the announcement of Traktor Play, a streamlined version of Traktor Pro 4 that surprisingly includes many of the full version’s top-shelf functionality. And, for the first time, it’s inviting non-NI controllers to officially join in the fun.

Two Decks to Play With
Following the recent announcement of the new Traktor MX2 DJ controller, we’ve now got some info about new software. Traktor Play is a two-deck version of the DJ app and works standalone or with controllers.
The new Play is being billed as “streamlined,” so it won’t be as powerful as the Pro tier, but still offers the same sound engine with its sync, key detection, and key correction algorithms intact. Additionally, you get the built-in master limiter, which I’m assuming is the one based on iZotope’s Ozone.
Traktor Play also features effects, including reverb, delay, and gater; Mixer FX for one-knob filter sweeps and delays; stem separation to mute drums; the unique Pattern Player with an 808 kit for adding drum machine-style beats to your mixes; plus additional parameters like looping, hot cues, Flux Mode, and more.
Beatport Streaming
As with Pro 4, the Play version includes Beatport Streaming compatibility, letting you mix tracks directly from Beatport. Additionally, Beatport Previews are built in, meaning you can browse and mix from millions of tracks. Purchase of Traktor Play includes two free months of Beatport Streaming Advanced.
Plays Well With Others
Also new with Traktor Play is its expanded ecosystem, with partnerships with AlphaTheta and Reloop also announced. Traktor Play will come bundled with plug-and-play compatibility for AlphaTheta DDJ-FLX2 and DDJ-FLX4 controllers. It’s also compatible with Reloop Buddy and Reloop Ready at launch, although it’s not strictly plug-and-play, requiring “a few additional clicks” to configure.

“Partnering directly with AlphaTheta and Reloop marks an exciting new chapter for Traktor,” said Simon Cross, CPO at Native Instruments. “This collaboration means DJs have more flexibility, more accessibility, and more ways to connect with Traktor than ever before.”
Pricing and Availability
Traktor Play will be available starting November 3 with an MSRP of $49 / €49.
