EVH Wolfgang Special TOM: Rock Solid Tuning
Adding fine tuners to the hard tail formula
EVH has announced the latest addition to its acclaimed Wolfgang series: the Wolfgang Special TOM with a baked maple neck and rock-solid tuning.
Wolfgang Special TOM
We just reported on the new EVH Wolfgang WG Standard TOM models a few weeks ago, and now there is another release with a hard tail from EVH Gear.
However, this model comes with the EVH compensated bridge and tailpiece with fine tuners, so no locking Floyd Rose system to deal with, but more control over the tuning.
Baked Maple
The Wolfgang Special TOM boasts a basswood body, complete with an elegant arched top. Its bolt-on quartersawn baked maple neck is reinforced with graphite rods, ensuring rock-solid stability even under the most demanding touring conditions. These guitars are real workhorses. I have owned a few Wolfgang models, and they are rock-solid guitars.
Ultra Smooth Neck
The neck profile is carved and rolled to the precise specifications of the legendary Eddie Van Halen himself, and features a silky smooth, hand-rubbed satin urethane finish on the back, promising hours of comfortable and effortless playing.
It has a 12″-16″ compound radius baked maple fretboard fitted with 22 jumbo frets and classic black dot inlays. Truss rod adjustments are simple thanks to the spoke wheel conveniently located at the neck’s base.
EVH Wolfgang Alnico 2
Mounted directly to the body are a pair of EVH Wolfgang Alnico 2 humbucking pickups. The control knobs are equally high-quality, featuring a 500K EVH Bourns low friction volume pot with a treble bleed circuit for smooth volume swells without sacrificing high-end clarity.
The tone control uses a 250K Bourns high-friction pot, designed to prevent accidental tone adjustments whilst you are riffing.
Price & Availability
It is available from Thomann in Gloss Black and Husk White with black hardware, or Oxblood with eye-catching gold hardware.
Official MSRP – USD 1299.99
