Line 6 brings Helix Native amp and effects sim to a DAW near you
Want to enjoy Line 6’s latest guitar amp and effects models outside the confines of a floorboard? Feel like POD Farm has aged quite a bit? Line 6 is bringing the same software technology that drives its Helix line of guitar processors to Windows and Mac computers.
Here’s the breakdown of features:
- 60 amplifiers, 30 speaker cabinets, and 100 effects
- Support for third-party impulse responses
- Transfer presets to Helix hardware
- Available in 64-bit AAX, AU, and VST3 formats
Line 6 says Helix Native features improved, more detailed amp and effect models that simulate gear down to the component level. It also introduces the Helix HX Hybrid cabinets, which Line 6 claims provide the same fidelity as a 2048-point or higher impulse response would provide, at the same computing expense a 1024-point IR takes. The choice of speaker cabinets is expanded with 16 different microphones and 23 recording distances.
Helix Native should be compatible with all popular DAWs and does not require any Line 6 hardware or software to function.
