W.A. Production is back with an absolute bargain of a distortion and saturation processor called Make Me Scream. For the introductory price of less than USD 6, you get a 2-stage effect with 4 distortion types and 4 timbre modes. But that’s not all…!
W.A. Production Make Me Scream
In addition to the aforementioned features, the W.A Production Make Me Scream intros a smart signal follower which automatically moulds the distortion envelope to your track’s transients. An emulated tube preamp stage lets you push the signal a bit before it hits the rest of the chain, making the distortion thicker and musical. Up to 40dB of gain can be applied to really cook up the input signal.
The 4 distortion modes include tube saturation, soft clipping, regular distortion, and folded sinus distortion. Each has a different character and potential for brutalizing your audio. Likewise, the 4 timbre modes are named Fuzz, Wall, Cliff, and Make Me Scream, which sound balanced, soft, mid-rangey, and trebly, respectively.
The multimode filter offers High, Low, and Band-pass modes with adjustable Cutoff and Emphasis controls. It is joined by the envelope follower, which can give the distortion character a rhytmic, auto-wah feel.
The rest of Make Me Scream’s parameters include internal oversampling (up to 16x), an output volume slider, and a Dry/Wet control to blend the distortion with the original signal in parallel. Visual feedback is provided by three meters, showing the distortion type, the resulting audio waveform, and the output level.
All in all, this is a neat package that’s complemented by a bunch of presets tailored to specific instruments, genres, and types of effects.
