With the version 14.1 update, Tracktion Waveform Pro allows you to build your own instruments and effects with AI-assisted code generation.

This free 14.1 update may seem minor, but it’s actually rather exciting with the introduction of AI-assisted plugin creation, extended mix analysis tools, and additional loudness metering functions. This expands the Waveform Pro 14 platform that was launched earlier this year with its redesigned interface, multichannel audio support, and LLM-based AI Assistant.

Tracktion Waveform Pro 14.1 Update

While version 14 enabled basic JavaScript macros, the 14.1 update allows you to create your own instruments and effects plugins within the Waveform Pro environment. With the Assistant, you simply specify the type of plugin you require, and the DSP code is then built in the Cmajor programming language. The code is then compiled in the back end and inserted onto a track, with the instrument or effect ready to use.

Luckily, troubleshooting is built into the process in the form of self-healing code. Build errors are detected inside the process, which then recreates any erroneous blocks, resulting in a usable plugin without needing your input. Also, the plugin’s controls are completely automatable from a MIDI controller or the automation lanes.

Leveraging the multichannel audio capabilities, the 14.1 update also adds a set of intelligent analysis and metering tools, using the LLM engine for analyzing and diagnosing problems within the mix in order to export tracks at specific loudness targets. The AI processing listens to the main stereo bus while cross-referencing your mix with the genre or production targets you choose.

Also, prior to this update, you required a cloud-based API key, whereas now there are AI Profiles that let you use the Waveform Pro assistant locally without the internet. Overall, the 14.1 update adds more value than ever for Waveform Pro users, making it a more formidable and unique production platform.
