10 years on from the launch of the iconic OP-1 and its famous cameo in Swedish House Mafia’s video for One (Your Name) feat. Pharrell Williams, we see another collaboration in the works. This time it’s a completely custom-designed performance console built for Swedish House Mafia by Teenage Engineering. The MOAD made its first appearance at Coachella 2022 in April earlier this year, and now it goes on the road for the US and EU Swedish House Mafia tour.

What went into the Teenage Engineering MOAD?

The unique MOAD console is made up of modified versions of some of our favourite DJ gear, but it doesn’t stop there. In addition, there is a master computer most likely running either Ableton Live or Native Instruments Traktor (or both) and a range of custom-designed lighting effects units and mechanical tape reels. What’s more, the 5 x 1.2 meter performance deck disassembles within half an hour into nine separate modules. Construction of the console was done with the help of the band and engineer Daniel Araya, who helped bring this teenage dream to life.
