Fender is about to launch Fender Tone 3.0, an updated version of the app used to control its digital modelling amps. The move coincides with the impending release of three new Mustang amplifiers in April.

Wireless Tone-shaping

The Fender Tone app is basically a wireless controller for Fender’s digital modelling amp range. Players can change settings or pull up presets without even touching their amps! Originally released in 2017 as a companion to the Mustang GT amps, the app allows players to create and store presets that can then be shared with other players. Many famous and high-profile musicians have also shared their settings over the app.

Fender Tone 3.0 is the app’s latest iteration and now offers real-time interactivity. This is obviously a very useful feature, as it allows you to hear exactly how your sound is being modified as it’s being adjusted on the app.

Other features include:

  • More flexibility for the signal path
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • 39 different amp types and 73 effect models
  • Dynamically synchronized wireless controller for Fender’s Mustang GTXMustang LT series, and Rumble bass amplifiers
  • Browsing of custom presets as well as Fender’s amp and effects collection
  • Sharing for customized presets with other users on the app.

The app will be available on iOS, Android, Mac and PC devices.

According to Tera Melos’ singer/guitarist Nick Reinhart, “The ease of accessing so many different sounds in a real guitar amp is incredible and you have everything you need right at your fingertips. I’m able to focus on being an artist and much less on the logistical part that can take up so much time – like building a pedalboard, or hunting down the right guitar amp.”

The launch of the app ties in nicely with the release of three new digital modelling amplifiers from the company. The Mustang GTX50, the Mustang GTX100, and the Mustang LT50. All three amps are seamlessly integrated with the Fender Tone 3.0 app, and will be available in stores on April 16.
