Cables, cables, cables, we are drowning in patch cables. If you are into Eurorack then you’ll know what I mean. They get everywhere, plugged in all over the place and you can never seem to find the right length when you need it. The HEX-01 from Eurodesk-z could be the cable tidying solution you’ve been looking for.
The HEX-01 is a hexagonally shaped hanger for cables made from 16 gauge laser cut steel and finished in a textured black powder coat. It’s about 12 inches across and mounts onto a 5/8″ microphone stand. Each of the 6 edges has 8 slots for your cables. It’ll fit 3.5mm patch cables and TTS Bantam cables and they reckon there’s room for over 300 depending on the width of your cable housing. There are an additional 6 holes cut for tools or ingeniously hanging other hangers on the hanger.
Eurodesk-Z has launched the HEX-01 on Kickstarter and a pledge of $45 will secure you a tidy studio free from patch cable clutter. They also have stickers and t-shirts on offer. Delivery is expected in June 2019. The goal is $13,400 which equates to nearly 300 preorders – which seems quite a lot for such a specialised product. Well, they’ve got 20 days to go and they need to sell about 10 times what they have so far. Hopefully, this little article will help!
It’s a great idea, nice design, good price and would work nicely in any studio with space for a free standing cable hanger.
