Fender’s new H.E.R. Artist Signature Stratocaster comes in an amazing iridescent Chrome Glow finish, exclusive to this model. But apart from the pretty colour, what else does it have to offer?

The new Fender Artist Signature model for H.E.R. comes in a special Chrome Glow finish with a matching headstock. This striking colour, paired with the anodised aluminium pickguard, really makes this guitar pop. But apart from this cool finish, is there anything else that makes this Stratocaster unique?

Well, it has the usual alder body, matched up with a bolt-on C-profile maple neck with a vintage, ’60s Fender feel, but with a more modern 9.5″ radius. Hardware includes a traditional Fender vintage-style six-point synchronized trem system and vintage tuners.

The model comes with a set of Fender’s Vintage Noiseless Strat single-coils. These help keep the 60 cycle hum at bay, which is great for recording and playing live. Personally, I’ve never been a fan of the noiseless pickups myself. I’ve have owned a few Fender versions over the years, but always feel they lack that vintage tone I am looking for from a Strat. However, if you’re looking to get rid of that single-coil hum, then maybe they could be for you.

Any standout features apart from the finish?

Sure, the finish is a real eye-catcher, and it does have a neck plate that tells you it is an Artist Signature Model, but apart from that, it is a pretty bog standard spec Stratocaster. Albeit, a very nice looking one, if you like silver. I like the finish, but I’m not sure it is the Stratocaster I would choose when faced with a rack full of them in a guitar store. It doesn’t have any features that particularly standout for me.

It’s still a nice guitar though, and it is great to see some more female artists getting good quality signature instruments at last.
