Those crazy, cool Danes over at TC Electronic have just announced the imminent arrival of the new Aeon String Sustainer, which aims to take the crown from the ever-popular EBow hand-held string sustainer.

The Aeon is powered by a pair of custom-designed transducers and TC reckons this new modern-day take on the EBow could be a winner. The basic principle with an EBow is it will oscillate your strings and make them sustain – the Aeon seeks to do the same. TC states that the increased string clearance makes it easier to use, as the user can hold the unit a bit further away.

With a nice brushed aluminium housing and a single button to turn it on, this effect should be easy enough to use. It runs from a single 9-Volt battery and turns itself off after eight minutes to save on power. They look really well built in the official TC demo video below, and come with a handy three-year warranty.

I really love string sustainers and can see me buying one of these. You can use it on bass and acoustic guitars, too. Loads of fun to be had here, I think, and the price is great as well. So add a bit of delay, a touch of reverb and possibly a hint of fuzz – then go make some insane whale noises or infinite sustaining epic solos!
