TC Electronic has just announced a new INFINITE Sample Sustainer pedal. It gives players the ability to both capture and sustain a moment in audio. This gives you the opportunity to stack and layer notes, chords and phrases, then fade them out or have them hang on infinitely.
TC Electronic INFINITE Sample Sustainer
The new TC Electronic INFINITE Sample Sustainer sounds like it will offer players some unique ways of playing with sound. You can layer, fade out, or make infinite individual notes or chords. It sounds like a lot of fun, especially for creative possibilities and experimentation.
“I am very excited about our first sustainer pedal ever, which opens creative spaces ready for exploration and experimentation. Imagine the sounds you could create if you had infinite time on your hands. Well, we can’t give you infinite time, unfortunately, but we’re very happy to offer endless amounts of sustained layers right at the tips of your toes. I am also very pleased to share that the integrated reverb is based on the exact same algorithm found in our highly acclaimed Hall of Fame Reverb pedal. Nothing is too good for soundscapes INFINITE-style,” – Paul Robert Scott, Product Manager.
Reverb, plus Latching or Momentary modes
It has an onboard reverb that uses the TC Hall of Reverb algorithm. This can be toggled on/off by the Dry/Verb toggle switch.
You also get controls for Decay, Level and Fade In, along with an FX Type rotary selector switch that gives you access to the various effects available. And finally, the INFINITE Sample Sustainer pedal has a Latching or Momentary mode, as well as a built-in FX Loop for patching more effects into the sustained part of the signal path.
The effect looks to me to be a lot of fun and I think that it could be perfect for inspiring new song ideas. Plus, you have the TC TonePrint facility that allows you to save/load three slots on the pedal itself. You can use this system to edit and save TonePrints via the accompanying smart phone/tablet app. It really opens up the flexibility of these TonePrint capable pedals.
I’m looking forward to seeing what players think about the new TC Electronic INFINITE Sample Sustainer. As far as the specs go, it sounds like a lot of fun.
