Synth YouTuber and musician Oscillatorsink has released an online editor for the Korg Volca Drum digital percussion machine. It reveals all the parameters of this little box and is completely free.

Synthmata

It’s a slightly non-descript name for something so specific but what we have here is the guts of the Korg Volca Drum laid out for easy editing. Programming the actual box can be a bit fiddly whereas Synthmata can give you a much better and more detailed overview of where it’s at. It’s not beautiful but it’s very clear and well laid out which is, of course, a form of beauty all of its own. The graphical waveform selection is particularly helpful.

For both layers within each of the six parts you get sliders on Level, Pitch, Attack, Release, Modulation amount and rate. And then for each part you get a Wave Guide Send, Bit Reduction, Fold, Drive and Gain. At the bottom of the page is the Wave Guide section with Model Type, Decay, Body and Tune.

The editor works in a webpage with WebMIDI and currently supports Chrome and Opera although other browsers may work with an appropriate plug-in. The best bit is that not only can you can save and recall your patches but you can share them with other Volca Drum users with simply a link.

Nice work.
