Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator Modular 170
Build your own compact modular synth with the PO-Modular 170 kit from Teenage Engineering. Assembly is relatively simple with the illustrated guide, and no soldering is necessary.
Although compact, the 170 is a complete modular system with 9 modules including an oscillator, filter, envelope, LFO, VCA, and the impressive PO-Modular 16 sequencer.
In addition, it ships with 8 patch cables to start your modular journey and a AA battery pack for portable operation.

Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator Modular 400
The larger PO-Modular 400 kit produces a system consisting of 16 total modules when assembled. Here, you get some welcome additions like 3 oscillators, 2 envelopes, 2 VCAs, noise and random generators, and a mixer.
With the more extensive selection of modules, it makes sense that the 400 comes with 15 patch cables to get you started.
Although the controls are small you can build sounds rather quickly, and the workflow allows spontaneity which has to count for something.
