Reason Updates:
Now under the LANDR umbrella, Reason 14 is the latest evolution of the unique DAW system that moves it into a more competitive direction than ever.
Reason 14
The first thing you’ll notice about the sequencer is the new Track Panel that becomes your main base of operations, allowing you to adjust the signal chain, sends, and level of each track without having to switch views. As you select each track, you can open the floating Rack view to tweak the connected instrument or effect device, giving you immediate “hands-on” control.
In addition, the sequencer now has Track Folders to group channels, as well as smarter clips with more advanced functions such as looping. Meanwhile, the piano roll is more streamlined and intuitive than ever, with velocity handles for more precise per-note editing. To make importing audio more seamless, there is now auto tempo detection and the ability to chase MIDI notes as you edit and play back parts.
The legendary RV7000 reverb that has been a part of the identity and sound since the beginning now has a successor, the RV-9 Reverb Station. Choose from nine different reverb algorithms, including spectral and granular modes. This lets you create realistic ambient spaces, model classic digital reverb units from the 1980s, or do textured spatial sound design. Also, the Factory Sound Bank has been updated with over 900 new drum samples and new patches, as well as improvements to the Rack Extension SDK.
There is also a Dark Mode theme that is active by default across the whole DAW, making it easier than ever to navigate Reason’s new interface. Overall, this new direction makes for a seamless transition between working on this platform and most other major DAWs, even the skeumorphic design philosophy of the devices has been gradually dialled back in favour of more practical plugin UX design.

With Reason 14, we set out to rethink the music-making workflow. By centering the experience around the sequencer and bringing key elements of each track and Rack into view, it’s easier to stay focused on what matters most: making music

Reason used to be my goto DAW until I fell into the funk of making the same music over and over. The arranger is just so clunky that I had to make the switch to work with midi/audio in a more clean way. First it was ableton and now Bitwig is my goto. I’m am just waiting for Reason to update their timeline/arranger, turn off those automatic slice markers, allow more zooming, hotkeys for simple quick edits. Update the piano roll so it feels less like a DAW from the early 2000’s which it still is or at least its the same since Reason 4. To be about 9 versions since i started using it and to still be so outdated is kinda sad and im sure they’ve pivoted to subscriptions and more modules versus the DAW itself so I just wait until they Pivot back and we see a new updated Reason beyond just HiDEF modules and VSt support 10 years too late.
Sorry but this update feels meh. And no new features in the RRP? :/
As many of us have bought many soft synths and many VST effects over the years, Many of us aren’t in the slightest bit interested in these five new devices. As the DAW is the centre of our music-making, everything depends on that DAW to be excellent at handling VSTs and the sequencer must be excellent at providing intuitive options for a fast workflow. Maybe this will finally be the time when VST midi out and a much-needed update to the sequencer will be provided.
Still a great tool as a sound source ❤️, especially as plugin in Ableton Live, because it has a limited sequencer and also limited mixing possibilities.
I’m excited to work with reason 13,i been a fan since 2.5,and I used most of them, and I’m on reasons, the other daws make me feel like I’m reading a book, reasons is fun and easy to use like my home entertainment stereo system
they should better work on bugs which became the staple of Abelton, Live became a tool for Youtube musicians, not pros or especially live performers.
If that sequencer-screenshot is all what is new to the sequencer, that this update is a sad joke. A terrible joke. But let’s think positively for now, that they have come to their senses and it will be a great update.
Long live Reason 5 (before that added that ridiculous excuse for an SSL mixer) this ruined everything and no one wants to admit it. Reason was simple and GREAT because you just had a 16 channel mixer running and it was ENOUGH (but the sky was the limit) i am 100% convinced Reason doesn’t care about its users based on ALL of the new features added since 5. More isn’t always better. Reason was THEE all-in-one solution and because they screwed this up SO badly, they had to make plugin versions INSTEAD of just FIXING what needed to be fixed. Make that mixer OPTIONAL. Give us the Reason EVERYONE could dive into. Now it’s just upgrades that are actually PAID update cash-grabs that no one is really interested in (at their core) But hey…what do I know? Only been doing this since 1996.
VST midi out please.
wow REASONS MUST NOT BE Worth IT
60% of after a few month, sales must be slow
Wow. Folks are harsh! (Or maybe these are just old comments?)
I’ve been a Reason user since…Rebirth! lol. I won’t lie: There was a while there that I just wrote it off too. But it’s been going from (catch up) strength to strength of late, and these latest updates look great IMHO.
And Reason was and has remained a helluva sound design resource. I get to place there that I don’t get to with my other DAWs. It’s a great tool in the toolbox.
I just saw my comment from 2024 on this new Reason 14 update post. This is th eonly music website I frequent where your new post keep comments forever. As a piece of feedback, maybe not do that, its really weird. Are you just reusing pages or something?
