Dustie Waring plays with Between the Buried and Me and now has his own signature model PRS called the DW CE 24 “Floyd” Limited Edition, a modern looking PRS with a Floyd Rose bridge and maple fretboard. Not only is it sleekly styled, it’s also packing some serious hardware.
DW CE 24 “Floyd”
This new model from PRS comes factory equipped with a Floyd Rose bridge, locking nut and a set of PRS Phase III Locking Tuners both finished in Black Satin, giving it a sleek and modern look.
A single Volume and Tone control with 5-way blade pickup selector switch is used to control the pair of Mojotone “DW Tomahawk” pickups. The controls have been moved back and out of the way from the Floyd Rose bridge, a modification that reflects Dustie’s preferences.
The pickups use both Ceramic and Alnico magnets along with a special winding technique to achieve their high gain tones.
The DW CE 24 “Floyd” is made with a mahogany body that has a maple cap and comes in either Gray Black or Waring Burst. The guitar uses a CE bolt-on neck join and a satin-finished maple neck, with matching maple fretboard. The neck has a slightly modified PRS Pattern Thin carve that’s slightly thinner front to back than normal.
I would suggest you take a look at the official demo video below to get an idea of how this guitar sounds, but if you like modern high gain guitar styles, then chances are you will enjoy this one. I like the overall look and all the hardware is fantastic quality branded stuff, so I think it will be popular. But it is a ‘Limited Edition’ model and so you may need to decide quickly if you want one, or they could all be gone.
