For this new Dean Thoroughbred Select Floyd Quilt Maple Natural Black Burst you get a pretty highly figured quilted maple top, finished in the Natural Black Burst finish, and it comes factory fitted with a double locking Floyd Rose 1000 Series trem system. It has a solid eastern mahogany body and a set-through eastern mahogany neck, so its the right formula of woods for this style of instrument. I like they have opted for a satin finish on the neck for comfort, whereas the rest of the guitar is a gloss finish, a nice little detail that will make it just that more comfortable to play.

Traditional-ish Singlecut

That eastern mahogany neck has a 24.75” scale length and the ebony fingerboard has a very traditional, relatively flat 12” radius, so it is right in the Gibson Les Paul ballpark in terms of dimensions and looks neat with the white binding. The fretboard comes fitted with 22 jumbo frets and so it should be a breeze to play, and great fro big bends and easy vibrato.

Seymour Duncan

This model comes factory fitted with a pair of open-coil zebra Seymour Duncan humbucking pickups, with the APH-1 Alnico II in the neck position and the Custom in the bridge position. The wiring is pretty traditional with a volume and tone knob for each pickup, and a three-way pickup selector switch.

Apart from the Floyd Rose, the other notable hardware included are a quality set of Grover 18:1 ratio tuners, which should make stringing up the guitar nice and simple. You are getting a lot of guitar for the money here, and if you want a locking trem system on a singlecut style body, with a traditional layout, then this should be on your radar. The Natural Black Burst colour with 5 ply binding  suits the guitar well and works well with all the hardware is black, so it all sits nicely on this model.
