Parawave Audio layer up the sounds with Rapid

Parawave Audio ask the question “are you tired of thin sounding patches?” and then with a “ta-da” give us RAPID the modern polyphonic hybrid synthesizer that’s fatter than a fat man swimming in lard.

There doesn’t appear to be a website which is annoying – it redirects you to Twitter. But, from what I can gather from the trailer and facebook page RAPID has a “powerful layer synthesis engine” with up to 8 layers of sound. Each layer has 3 oscillators which could be samples or waveforms, there’s a filter, effects and a comprehensive arpeggiating engine. The layering idea is where they get the fat and dynamic sounds from. There are morphable wavetables, complex modulation options, multi-samples and a great big bag full of presets.
The interface looks very exciting. I’m digging the animations and wave shaping – always love a bit of movement in my GUI.
It’s going to be released at any time and for now all we have is the trailer below. It sounds impressive in the video, albeit very EDM, so it’s going to be interesting to see how deep and diverse you can get with the sound design.
No price or website so I guess you should follow them on Twitter for more information.
